When I set up my next planted tank im wanting to have a mix of iron rich clay or anything else that will hold in nutrients such as laterite, but I want it to look like white beach sand without the calcium or high Ph.Are there any recomendations for sand/sillica or anything white.
Silica is a big no no. Go to rona of home depot and get a bag of filter sand. Same stuff they use in pool filters. It looks great. I use that along with pmdd, and DIY c02 and it grows like crazy...
I found out that if you pour muriatic acid on rock with carbonates it will smoke or sizzle showing a tell tale sign that it will harden youre water I think the pool filter sand sounds good.Where is the best place to go to put together a good regulator, needlevalve, silanoide and low pressure adjustment assembly ect. There are a few options and it would be good to know what youre paying for.Do you just rent/refill Co2 canisters at prax air?
